Are the results from AI image tools actually realistic?

I've been seeing all these ads for AI image tools, and they make it seem like you can create photorealistic images with just a few clicks. But I'm skeptical. Are the results actually realistic, or do they still have that telltale "AI" look? I'm especially curious about tools that claim to be able to modify existing photos, like changing the background or adding special effects. Has anyone here tried these out? Do the edited images actually look like they were naturally part of the original photo, or does it look fake?

I was looking into a similar topic and came across

It appears to focus on AI-generated image tools with a strong emphasis on visual realism. From what I’ve seen, such tools often depend on underlying technology and input quality, but I haven’t tested it myself, so I can’t speak from personal experience. Have you come across anything like this before?
